ABOUT

We’re uniting tech firms to help ensure positive online experiences. In 2022, Netsafe and NZTech launched the Aotearoa New Zealand Code of Practice for Online Safety and Harms, joined by tech firms Meta, Google, TikTok, Twitch and X (formerly Twitter). We are committed to reducing the risk of online content that may cause harm to New Zealanders.

The Code addresses key areas including bullying, child safety, disinformation, harassment, hate speech and misinformation with a mechanism for lodging complaints against breaches. Signatories pledge to uphold these standards, collaborating with authorities as needed.
